The last 2 Thanksgivings I have used the standard basket that came with the "Big Easy". We usually feed a large number of people and therefore we buy a 17-19 lb bird. It was very difficult to get the turkey in and out of the original basket. We would end up tearing up the bird in order to get it out. ... read more them too but that was simple enough. I can now get a over sized bird out of the basket without tearing up the meat or getting frustrated and burning my hands/fingers. I highly recommend this hinged basket if you find yourself cooking birds on the high end of the recommended size 17lbs or more. This will make your process so much faster and with less frustration.

I purchased the oilless fryer because it did everything the oil filled fryer did, but without the expensive oil and the messy clean-up. The addition of the hinged basket makes it an even better product as it is now much easier to remove large roasts or turkeys from the basket. We have had friends over for dinner and they all comment about how well the fryer works.

Char-Broil® Easy-out Hinged Basket is a must have if you are doing a turkey, the (4) prongs at the bottom of the basket make it a snap to place the turkey in the upright position and hold it there, the hinged door lets you remove the turkey very easy,and without struggle. The only thing that could be improved on would be the door lock, you need to be carful that it doesn't unlatch dumping the turkey out, Note to the MFG., a little more hook loop to the latch wires would take care of the issue.
