Centercut Lump Charcoal is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best natural lump charcoal available I use this in my big green egg. It is the best, bar none. I have tried them all. This is clean, fully charred, no small junk, no rocks, no raw wood at all. Smoke but not overpowering. As long as I can get this, I will use nothing else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I'm new to the lump cooking world but have spent a lot of time around others using it. This lump made my introduction seamless. Lights right up, no sparks, consistent sizing of the lump. My friend keeps a plastic container next to his Kamado to hold all the trash pieces that he gets in his bagged lump. Char-Broil's lump was pure, clean, product from top to bottom. I am a big fan and am excited about my smoking and grilling days ahead!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too Expensive Way too expensive for approx 11lbs of lump , Also tricky unit of measure with the Cubic Inch measurement nonsense. Nearly double the cost of any other Lump. Not Worth it!

How many pounds charcoal in box?

Asked by: CharcoalKing
The charcoal is sold by volume, not weight. Although Char-Broil says it contains 11 pounds, this is simply not true. I bought 8 boxes. Only one of the boxes contained 11 pounds. The other seven, were less than 11 pounds, the lightest box being 9.7 pounds. Also, this product's packaging is wrong about the volume of charcoal contained in the box. The box says it contains 1.18 cubic feet of charcoal. If you carefully measure the inside dimensions of the box and do the math, you will find that the volume of the box itself is only 1.05 cubic feet. This is 11% smaller than the advertised volume. Further, if you take the charcoal out of the bag and place it in the box, the level of the charcoal only comes up to about 2 inches of the top. So, there is simply no possible way that this product contains the advertised volume of charcoal.

How is this type of charcoal made?

Asked by: Cfield
Centercut Lump Charcoal is organic, center-cut hard woods only. Charcoal is mostly pure carbon, called char, made by cooking wood in a low oxygen environment. It is a process that can take days and burns off volatile compounds such as water, methane, hydrogen, and tar.

Please provide us with the model number for your grill and we will be able to best assist. This model number should be on the rating label, on the back towards the bottom of the grill, and also on the front cover of the product guide. The model number normally begins with 46.
