    Rated 3 out of 5 by from Well Built 4$ yet Heating to 225 degrees difficult The Price of this unit was great at K-mart on clearance last week!!!! The quality of the unit for the price was great!!! The burn off/Seasoning of the unit went well!!!!! The Charcoal Pan is small, with no ventilation. When the water pan is added you have a very hard time getting temperature over 175. I will be modifying the charcoal holding pan, if that doesn't work I will build a better charcoal rack. All in all worth what I invested in it, but if you do not want to modify a smoker to have it work properly this may not be the smoker for you. The Turkey we cooked was excellent even though it took seven+ hours due to low smoker temp issue.

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job! My Children and Grandchildren are dissapointed if there is none of Gpa's jerky for them on birthdays. I used my grandmothers 1940 Wedgewood stove to produce it. I bought a new stove and was told that no jerky would be cured in it. That is when my wife bought me the Char-Broil Smoker. I have been curing jerky in it almost non-stop. Different flavors and easily. I agree with others that the charcoal pan needs a perferated bottom. I cut a piece of expanded metal to fit, and then cut out the bottom of the pan. This smoker doesn't have a lot of "Bells and Whistles" but does the job as needed. A great starter unit, but does well as your experience progresses.

    Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great with some out of the box mods I bought this several weeks ago. After returning the 1st due to damage and then cleaning a rather over used oily substance from the inside and outside I was ready to smoke. yeah, not so much, You could put 10 air dampers on this unit and there would still not be air flow from under the charcoal. So I now use the charcoal pan as a catch pan and use a square wok type pan with plenty of ventilation to cook with and have no temp issues at all. Also this is the only brand smoker I have found that does not make or have door gaskets kits as half my heat blew out from around the doors. So a little heavy duty foil has fixed that issue, not pretty and very agitating at times but have now done a ham, 4 large pork butts, pork ribs and a 14 pound whole chicken with no issue at all. For the cost of this unit you get what you pay for, now it works fine and have no issues.

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not so pleased with first usage. I would not buy this smoker again. The smoker got very hot during the break in process. When I put some slabs of ribs and the water in the temp dropped and never recovered. I tried to adjust the vents in every way. After about 8 hours, I had to move some inside to the oven and 1 slab in my Weber grill.
