Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent all around I bought this grill one year ago, it has been great so far. I bbq year round afew times a month. Holds enough coal and hase enough space to grill for six people easily. I also used it as a smoker for ribs. I would rather an offset but it did the job nicely. Excellent buy, just keep it covered.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Grill Under 100 I bought this grill on sale. I had only had grills in the 30-40 dollar range - just something to throw burgers and dogs on. I was able to assembly it - alone - even though it recommends two people (and I would follow that if you're not a big guy like me) because the components are very heavy. This is a serious grill. I put some coals in it fired it up...cooked mac and cheese, beans, whole pack of hot dogs, 4 burgers, 2 veggie burgers and 3 pieces of corn. All at the same time - a new thing for me. All cooked evenly and in about 30 minutes. If you are looking for a grill - and want something worth pulling out - unlike the picnic type bbqs do not even think twice. This is the kind of grill that makes you pick up a steak and charcoal just because. This will serve all my grilling needs and probably make grilling a much more frequent event at my household. The only thing I could say as a 'negative' is that I haven't had it long - though it seems amazingly sturdily built - I haven't had it long enough to say how it will stand up to weather, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Survived Hurricane Sandy and keeps on tickin! I have been barbecuing for 45 years and have owned many different grills and smokers during that time. I have never owed a "bad grill". I stick to brand names and always look the display model over carefully. Most grills are designed with a particular type of cooking in mind and if the buyer understands what they want from the grill and buys accordingly most brand name grills will perform well. I bought this grill on a whim in 2011. I live 5 blocks from the beach in New Jersey. During hurricane Sandy the grill was completely submerged in salt water, I actually thought it was gone. But when the flood waters receded there it was up against the fence, 20 feet from where it would normally be. I hosed it down good and have continued to use it since. I use this grill year round several times a week for direct and indirect cooks. My only issue with it is that charcoal will fall down the sides under the fire grate if you are not careful when you place the coals. That is the only down side to the moveable fire grate, the gap at the ends of the grate, and certainly not a big deal. The upside of the moveable fire grate is that on longer cooks, as the heat disapates, the fire grate can be raised to compensate. On a long slow cook I will frequently start the cook with the food on the "warming rack" and as the coals burn down raise the fire grate. Those cooks typically finish with the food on the grilling grates and the fire grate all the way up. Probably not how others do it but I find this grill lends itself to this method. Other reviewers have had issues with rust and deteriorating grates, that has not been my experience. Once I complete a cook I use a Grill Daddy brush to clean the grills which sort of steam cleans them and then close the vents and lid to snuff the coals. Once cool I empty the ash and apply a thin coating of vegetable oil to the cast iron grates. To date I have never had to replace any of the parts. My grilll has never been covered and is holding up fine, there is a very fine patina of rust on the lid. Overall my experience is that with minimal mantenance it has been very durable. I recently bought another for my youngest son when he moved out of the house. The newer grill is not much different tha the older one and looks like it should hold up well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little grill This is a great little grill. When I purchased it there was broken grate. They do seem a little weak for a charcoal grill. But I have no problem making my own to fit. I do have a question though, can this be used at a smoker too? Looks like I would be able to...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I love my Char-Broil Barrel Grill! But,,, I live in Washington State. Even though my grill is covered year around. The meat & coal grates rust & fall apart way too easy. Love the durability of the of the shell though. Might have to go back to Webber???

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Well for the money I've been using this grill for a few years with no major issues. As others have said the iron grates rust quickly as expected, mine also cracked so I threw them away and cut a piece of expanded metal to fit. I also replaced the lower grate with expanded metal as the old one warped with frequent use. You really need to season the iron grates with vegetable oil to keep them from rusting, just like a skillet. I modified mine with an actual temperature gauge above the vague one and added a fairly large smoke box below the grill so I can smoke jerky, ribs and other meats with it now. Works better than an offset for sure, wish they'd make them like this. Not bad for the price, easily modified to make a real solid rig. Working on a rotisserie for it now. Cons: little wobbly until you weld it solid, the upper rack mounting is horrible (Replaced the 2 bolts with a single piece of all-thread), end caps for the side shelf all fell out, temp gauge is vague.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Grill! Grill is excellent! One issue ...I can't get my swing away grate to sit straight on the screws from the lid...instructions in user guide were poor and very unclear as to this. .. my grate sits more on one screw than the other and looks like it will fall after opening and cloSing the lid too many times. .. help with this issue please?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very good basic charcoal grill. Had the grill a month. Use it 2 times a week. Works great. The handle should be thicker - you will need a glove - the steel coil is too thin. For some reason the grill did not come with the grease can holder.

Is there a spit you can buy for this model?

This grill is not able to support a rotisserie. However, the Grill Infusion Cooker (model # 8999850) will work with this grill.
