Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Smoker after modifications The smoker is well built and sturdy, with the exception of the smoke chamber door latch that popped off the first time I used it. The solid charcoal pan is also a problem, as it doesn't allow for a good air flow to achieve a good burning coal fire to smoke wood chips with. I found a square porcelain coated steel "wok" that fit the guide rails perfectly to use as a charcoal pan, and that allowed for a much better fire and cooking temperature to be achieved and better smoke production. The "wok" was for grilling seafood and vegetables, so it was made full of holes for plenty of heat (air) flow, which is just what this smoker needed. One thing that you will need to do if you keep it outside, is to get a cover for it, as it will rust out rather quickly if you leave it to the weather uncovered. Other than those issues, this smoker will let you make some terrific food, we have had some fantastic smoked turkeys, ribs, prime rib roasts, chickens, meatloafs, steaks, corn, pork tenderloins, you name it and I've probably smoked it in this smoker. I like to use cider in the water pan along with some other spices and seasonings depending on what I'm smoking. This opens an avenue of experimentation for you if you like to try different things with food.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolutely terrible at maintaining temp This was bought as an entry level smoker, and I have had a terrible time maintaining a temp any higher than 125 on it for the 2 years I have owned it. It doesn't matter what I do I eventually have to finish off the meat in my boyfriends propane smoker (which to me is a true pity). It does not maintain a steady temp, the top door has warped and I have taken excellent care of it. I feel it was an utter waste of money and that I would not recommend to anyone that has an interest. It is such a fail that they would get turned off by the process before truly learning it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good is good: the bad is very bad. I bought this smoker 3 weeks ago. Week 1 I cooked two racks of ribs.they came out delicious but the arm that holds the water pan broke at the weld. I figured oh well freak defect. The next week I smoked an 18lb turkey. Took a little longer than expected but it came out delicious. However the slider support in which you slide the food rack into broke at the weld also. Now I know you get what you pay for but these are manufacturer defects. Any item should not break after two normal uses. I know that the cost to replace these items is approximately $20 but if something breaks again I could have bought the next smoker in quality up. I am sorry, the food cooked well but I can't recommend anything of inferior build/quality.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unsure of heating ability So far, I've not been able to get the temperature above 200degrees. So very hard to get the smoker seasoned as the directions specify. Also unsure if the charcoal pan is big enough to really maintain a heat level long enough to cook anything. Been trying to read reviews and learn of other peoples concerns...

I purchased this smoker from the Charbroil web site late last summer. the temp gauge doesn't go above 125 degrees. smoke escapes from the door when they are closed and the meat doesn't get done. I wonder if an electric model is easier to use.

I guess I didn't get what I ordered because my smoker only has 2 racks and no slide out ash pan and my charcoal and water pan are the same size what is the smoker model #14201876 supposed to come with? is it a 2 or 3 rack smoker?

How come I can not use the screws for the damper. I am unable to use the nuts to attach the damper to the smoker.

I want to smoke a 20 - 25 lb turkey, can I do it with  this smoker, realistically?
