The Char-Broil Grill Top Infuser makes roasting a whole chicken on your grill quick, easy, and painless. Throw some veggies and a little water into the infuser once you remove the chicken to make a complete meal!

Ingredients

  • 1 (4 to 5 pound) roasting chicken
  • salt & pepper

Instructions

  1. Remove the chicken giblets and rinse the chicken inside and out.
  2. Remove any excess fat and leftover pin feathers and pat the outside dry.
  3. Add salt and pepper to the outside of the chicken to taste.
  4. Set your grill to HIGH and preheat grill for 10-15 minutes or, until your grill has reached maximum temperature.
  5. While the grill is preheating, place the Grill Infusion Cooker basket into the infuser bottom.
  6. Place the chicken into the infuser basket and cover with infuser lid.
  7. Put the infuser onto the preheated grill and cook for approximately 15 minutes on HIGH.
  8. After 15 minutes, set grill to MEDIUM temperature.
  9. Cook for approximately 25-30 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  10. Remove Grill Infusion Cooker lid with spatula or oven mitts.
  11. Remove Grill Infusion Cooker from grill with oven mitts and serve.

I am very interested in the grill infuser and in fact wanted to buy a couple but after inquiring found out that the shipping to Hawaii is outrageous (over 100 dollars for a single unit) I have to do with out unless Loews or someone out here starts selling them. Please advise me if that happens.

    1. I just bought one today at Lowes in Illinois for $25. Am anxious to try it. Someone who used one said the chicken was so delicious and moist. Good luck.

  4. I purchased a Char-Broil® infuser-do I need light all 4 burners or just the one on which I will place the infuser?

  5. Any suggestions as to “flavor” of wood chips when cooking a whole chicken in the infuser?

    1. Elvin – My personal favorite is hickory mixed with a little cherry or apple wood. I would encourage you to try several different combinations until you find one that you love. It took me about 20 or so birds before I found what I really like with chicken. I hope this helps! Let us know what you try and how it turns out! We would love to hear back from you. – Michael

  6. I received an infuser (at my reqest) for my birthday. I’ve cooked, salmon, whole chicken, pork tenderloin and a turkey breast with it using hickory wood chips every time. I put a little water in with the wood chips. For the chicken, I stuffed the inner cavity with a cut up apple. All of these dishes came our so well, delicious.

    I’d like to do baby back ribs, beef roast, even stew meat in the infuser. Is that possible? Any recipes or suggestions?

    1. Fran – All of these are very possible. As long as food will in the infuser there shouldn’t be any problem cooking it. Use the search bar towards the top right side of the screen at Char-Broil LIVE and you should be able to search “infuser” and find a lot of great recipes. There is everything from shrimp and chicken to pulled pork, corned beef and fish.     2. Hello Fran,

      The chicken recipe you noted above sounds very similar to my mother’s ‘secret’ recipe, a family favorite passed down. Try adding some prunes to the apple mixture, noting that they can reduce quite a bit during cooking, and mix with the apples and a bit of sugar before stuffing. It adds a nice sweetness to the chicken. Hope you like it.

      I just used my new 2-burner CB Tru infrared grill for the first time today for some steaks and a tri tip, was very pleased with the results. Very happy with how little juice came out during resting, compared to my old grill :-)

      Looking forward to trying mom’s chicken recipe and so many other recommendations when I get the infuser option.

    1. Susan – The infusion cooker will fit most grills. It measures approximately 12” x 8.5” x 6.5”. What electric grill do you have? – Dustin

  7. Does the Infusion Cooker need the GRILL cover down in order to function properly?

    I’m a Fulltime RVer and use the Go2Grill x200 & love it! However, the Grill lid can not close when the Infuser.is in place.
