Cooking Grate, Ir is rated 2.0833 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing lifespan I have had this grill for 2 years and always kept it covered to protect it. The infrared emitter trays rusted and began to fall apart after two years and will cost almost $100 to replace all 4 trays.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Misleading information I have had this grill for about 3 years and the grates are rusted. I looked up the information to buy new ones and I thought the picture shows a complete grate and housing bu it doesn't. the two parts are sold separately for a total of over $45 each time four that's almost $200 with shipping. They need to sell the complete replacement unit at a reasonable price or at least show two pictures so it's not confusing. I'm disappointed to say the least.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs different cooking grate For the most part I have been very happy, except when it comes to the grates. I seasoned them from day one. About every 2-3 I'd do a deep clean. Remove the grates and separate each one, clean all the holes in the lower portion, then when I'd put it back together I'd make sure that the grates are with different bottoms and put in different spots. Keep it covered all the time along with it sitting under my patio cover. In short I'd probably go with a different cooking surface but staying with Char-Broil.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cooking grate replacement for IR I have loved the grill but been really aggravated that these parts and the heat diffuses underneath were rusting out too fast. I called in expecting to be frustrated, but learned they have a refresher kit with everything I needed for less than half the cost of what I expected based on the prices for the individual pieces, and the kit includes a pile more parts that I'll likely discover I need to replace when I get under the surface. Plus the phone person was absolutely the best, most competent person I've come across from any company in a very long time - and I am very sensitive to customer service quality. She is shipping me the stuff at a reasonable cost and I'll likely have it before the weekend. This is like the 4th review I've ever written in my life - I don't spend the time. But when I have an experience this great, I have to say so. Just call the number folks!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from GRATES ARE RUSTING I have had this grill for about 3 yrs. Last summer I did not use it at all because of the grates being rusted and did not want to spend over $100 to replace 4 grates. It has remained in our garage and has always had a cover over it. I also brushed oil on the grates before each use and cleaned them. I would not recommend this grill.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Rusted Cooking Grates Seems to me the coking grates should last longer than a couple of years and then cost $100 to replace all of them. I clean them, spray them with oil and they still rusted away.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hate this grill Grill rusted through (stainless steel?) even though I kept the unit clean and covered. Would love to find non IR replacement grills as the original replacements cost over $100 for all four.

I need to replace the grates for my grill and have 6 support brackets between each grate that I don't see on the schematic, are these still needed between the grates.

To best assist with this we will need the model number for your grill. This model number should be on the rating label, on the back towards the bottom of the grill, and also on the front cover of the product guide. The model number normally begins with 46. I have had my 4 burner Performance Tru Infrared for less than 1 year and everytime I grill I have to clean rust off of the emitter/grate (single unit - not with a separate tray/grates). Is this normal?
