Rated 3 out of 5 by from great starter smoker I use it at least once a week. However the wood tray don't work for nothing. I had to fabricate a different way to burn the wood. You also have to use only High setting if you set it any lower the wood wont burn (smoke). fortunately high setting only heats up to 225 to 250 anyway. It needs air vent. you have to shim the door open a little to get the wood to smoke properly. I would definitely redesign the smoker.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Door seal leaks and paint is coming off This smoker produces good meals. However, as others have posted I have had to bungee the door to keep the smoke in. While cleaning up the unit after a 12 hour pork butt smoke I found that the paint was coming off at the areas where smoke was leaking. Why are you using paint that is not suitable for this application? This is one case of getting what you pay for.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It's ok. Got this unit as a gift. Used it a few times and it worked great. There is an issue with the door not closing properly. The patio is level so uneven ground is not the case. Smoked meat a few times and was very pleased. Up until last week I am not getting any smoke. Did a rack of ribs last week and the meat was cooked but not smoked. Thought maybe the wood chips went stale. But after researching that I don't believe that is the case. Going to try to smoke ribs again tomorrow. Hope it works. If not I am going to be VERY disappointed.

Does wood chips need to be soaked or can they be dry?

Wood chips can be used either way. Soaking wood chips will prolong their lifetime, but it will also take longer for them to start smoking.

Found no instructions in the box for using this smoker! Soaked wood chips I placed in the wood chip box were barely singed and produced almost no smoke after one hour at low medium heat. The fish had no smoke flavor. How does one use it?

I have had my smoker for 3 years I have never soaked my wood chips nor do I use chunks I get a tremendous amount of smoke at 200 degrees.

Yes. This Vertical Smoker is also sold on Amazon. This smoker can be kept on your patio. We recommend using a cover. The 21" Vertical Smoker Cover is model # 8619401 and it is available on our site. This smoker can be used in the winter.
