Igniter Switch Module is rated 2.3846 out of 5 by 65.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Faulty product This will be my third ignition switch within the last 12 months. The original and the replacements have all fallen apart very quickly. It's just poorly made plastic and doesn't hold up to even casual use. It's spoiling what otherwise seemed like a good grill. It's not expensive to replace, but the shipping costs, handling time, and time to install the replacement all add up to a major headache.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Now on our third switch! We're very happy with the grill itself, but their engineering dept. definitely needs to re-design this self-destructing switch! And yes, I've been in touch with their very courteous and impressively responsive customer care dept. about it. Part of the problem is that the plastic nut and threads don't only hold the switch in place, for which plastic would be fine, but also have to support the weight of the metal 'heat shield'. And if the nut is tight and the metal expands from the heat even fractionally, that would tend to snap the fragile plastic threads, which is maybe why they break so easily and so often (two so far, in short order!). I suggested to them that the shield be welded or screwed to the inside face of the broiler, but they should probably also make the igniter's housing and nut out of metal instead of plastic. OK, so maybe it would then cost twice as much ($10 instead of $5!), but we unhappy reviewers would STILL be way ahead dollar-wise, plus we'd all have been saved a whole lot of unnecessary aggravation!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Igniter Switch just falls apart This grill is great--no flare-ups, cooks well. However, the igniter switch just falls apart. One day it works and the next day it comes all apart. This is the second time I have replaced the switch in less than one year. Part cost $5.00 but with shipping and handling, gets rather expensive. Perhaps another company makes a better product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from out of the box broken I bought the grill at home depot. Took 2 1/2 hours to put this thing together, only to find out the igniter button was broken. Im extremely upset, now home depot wants me to return the whole grill. No way im gonna put another one together.. reading all the reviews about the button is starting to make me think I made a bad decision.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from igniter switch doesn't work. I have come to expect igniter switches that stop working so I, after two years, ordered a replacement. Received in a timely manner, however, it still doesn't work. Not igniting, not even clicking. Thought that the actual iginters were rusty so i removed them and cleaned them up. Still no ignition. Now starting to think that the igniter that was sent was faulty. I'm frustrated.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Igniter is a piece of junk Love the grill but as I can see by the other reviews you still haven't fixed the darn problem. Next grill will be a Weber.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Third switch in 2 years. While I quite pleased with the grill, the switch just doesn't meet expectations. While the piece is not that expensive, the price adds up with the shipping. And its a pain to have spend the time and money to keep replacing it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not very reliable This is the second time I have had to replace the ignition switch. I don't think its well made. and I am tired of having to pay for the part and for shipping. I have also had to replace the in hood thermostat. In addition, there are no retailers that carry parts and waiting a week to ten days for delivery prevents me from using the grill.

Has this part been modified to a better quality yet? My Char Broil Tru-Infra, igniter button broke soon after I got the grill; I have to hand thread the pin-push button igniter thru hole in panel & hold, push to ignite. No other choice right now. HELP!

    Asked by: Ruffus
I also need to replace the igniter switch but after reading of all the problems with its poor design, has anyone tried just getting a momentary type switch, like from Radio Shack, instead as long as it fits thru the hole?
