Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for slow smoking I bought this because I like to slow smoke. It looked like it had all the features for low and slow smoking. Rather than hover around the pit you could go do other thing and check on temperature without actual going to the smoker and checking. I knew I was in trouble when I started to set the manual temperature when it says to press the Cook Button. There is no Cook Button on the unit, through the process of elimination I found out it is the Taste Button. I could live with that I suppose. The count down timer set up is an all day job if you want to slow cook something. To set an hour on the timer you have to press the minute button 60 times. At some point in time, which seems to be a round an hour, display shuts off. If you have a timer running either counting up or down it zero when you turn it back on. For slow cooking this unit is not practical. If you are looking for remote meat thermometer it works great. Just none of the features work for you.

I have one of these. It always shows a display. How do I get the display to turn off. Pushing the power button doesn't do it.
