Simple to Install But missing a key component.I purchased the kit to convert my new propane grill to natural gas. I found the instructions easy to follow especially since I was assembling the grill directly from its shipping box. The quick disconnect works well and the new natural gas line hose is a good length.
Now the but..... and it is a BIG one:
The kit's instructions had this little (easy to miss) paragraph near the beginning about "you may need a gas regulator for your natural gas line if your gas company uses bla, bla standard beginning after 19XX, etc.". Now I'm a mechanical engineer by trade and I read that paragraph multiple times and I still didn't know if I needed a regulator or not. So, I completed the installation and fired up the grill without a regulator; it worked BUT it did not have a robust flame height adjustment which meant per the paragraph that I did need a gas regulator. The $100+ gas conversion kit did NOT have a regulator included, the Char-Broil web site does NOT sell them nor do they offer you any kind of regulator information you might need like a list manufactures, model numbers or performance specifications.
So please Char-Broil, offer to sell the regulator as an extra line item or better yet include one in the kit, DAH! I would have been happy to have paid the extra cost to have one in the kit and not having to guess at the correct regulator to purchase separately.
FYI, once I purchased a regulator (1/2 psi out) and installed on my gas line ahead of the quick connect; the grill now works great with easy smooth flame height adjustment.
What does the conversion kit include. Do I need to change out the propane gas tips or will they work
