Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cannot live without it A friend bought a furnished beach condo that came with an electric grill, which he didn't want, so he gave it to us, brand new. We tried it, loved it, used it every night for the next 6 months and basically killed it (note: do not leave cord plugged in on the balcony when you live in Florida, the points get wet/corroded & stop working). So we went right out and bought the larger, Bistro 240 model and continue to use it every night. We barbecue steaks, pork chops, chicken, fish, veggies...everything. Here's a tip: You can buy a metal (iron?) vented box at the hardware store, fill it with mesquite or other flavor wood chips, pour water over it and set it on top of the grill & once the chips heat up and start to smoke a little bit, add your meat/veg & cook. Makes everything taste mui delicioso!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Red Hot! I bought this infrared patio bistro in red because they didn't have black at the store and I really wanted this grill. Well months later, I've been grilling everything on it to perfection! This grill is amazing! Just plug it in and watch the infrared action cook your food to perfection! The temperature gauge atop is extremely useful and th grease goes right into the drip tray below neatly. There's an abundance of space below to store utensils and other miscellaneous items. I highly recommend purchasing this grill because it is a sound investment that will last you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We purchased this BBQ about 6 months ago, upon recommendation of a friend. We were tired of having to refill the propane tanks, not knowing when they were about to empty and ruin our half cooked meals. Honestly, there is no difference in the taste of the food and the convenience is outstanding. I would highly recommend this electric BBQ hands down!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm so glad we got this! I bought this for my husband for Father's Day, and we've already used it several times. We had a kettle grill for decades, but hadn't used it for the last several years because there are just the two of us, and it was too much hassle to heat it up for the minimal amount of cooking we would have used it for, plus I was concerned about safety. This small electric grill is absolutely perfect for us. We've done brats, burgers, chicken legs and chicken breasts so far - and everything was perfect - and I am an electric grilling newbie!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Liked the old one better I had the old style patio bistro for many years. The only bad thing about was the cover. It had no hinge, so you had to set it down somewhere and that left Greeze rings. The new one is hinged , but the infered heat cannot be controlled. It's like its on wide open all the time. The company sent me a new controller , but it's the same. Also the thermometer is not accurate like the old one. We don't use as much as we did the old one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So disappointed Thought we would love is our fourth Char-broil grill...the infrared just isn't as good as original electric....does not ever get got enough for steaks, and once you open lid the temp plummets and doesn't recover...such a bummer, we were excited for new grill.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Electric is simple, easy and clean over charcoal. Had an electric CharBroil for 7 years that worked flawlessly. It needed the aluminum inner liner replaced and the new model doesn't have one. That was the reason for buying the new model. Tip: For proper operation make sure the grill fits over the element in front for the cover to fit properly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great little grill except I really like this grill except: The heat: (1.) If you Open the hood the temp drops considerably. (2.) We had a previous model from Char-Broil that had another shelf below the burner with Bricketts on it. That really helped with heat loss. I was wondering if there was a something like that I could get for this model. (3.) You really shouldn't use an extension cord with this grill because a longer cord will affect the amperage which affects the maximum temp. (4.) You should plug this or any electric grill into a circuit that doesn't have much else plugged into it or you will trip circuit breakers. I have a dedicated circuit that only goes to the area of the grill.

What is "TRU Infrared"? What is the grill area? What is the cord length?

Asked by: Snobird547
TRU-Infrared means that the grill is sending heat directly up into the food instead of heating the air around it, the way that most standard convection grills do. This cooking grate has a diameter of 17.24". The controller cord is five feet long.

Am I supposed oil the grates or prep the grill somehow before I use it for the first time?

Asked by: Lobo
The cooking grate can be seasoned with canola oil. This will prolong the lifetime of the grate, keep food from sticking and help to prevent rust. Give us a call at 1-800-241-7548 for more information.

It appears I need a new element for our Patio Caddie.  What is the part number for it?

Asked by: RAHOWU
To best answer this we need the model number for your Patio Caddie. This model number should be on the rating label, on the back towards the bottom of the grill, and also on the front cover of the product guide. The model number normally begins with 46. Follow this link for more information...

I am seeing a variety of the Char Broil Electric Grills and am wondering what all the differences are so that I can compare and get the one I want and one for my daughter.

Asked by: tennisdude
Our only current electric grills are our Patio Bistro models. All of our current Electric Patio Bistro models utilize the same TRU-Infrared technology. The only main difference is the color of each. Give us a call at 1-800-241-7548 and we will be able to provide more information.
