Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is Quality item! This smoker/cooker is constructed of heavy guage metal and has a thick enameled finish. I use it for smoke/cooking a pork roast for pulled pork and you can't beat it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How-to on pork tenderlioin The odd lack of cooking tips for Char-Broil products is stunning, so I thought I'd help with my work on the smaller downsized smoker. The nice long roll of pork is nearly perfect for this container (meat rises as it cooks, sometimes lifting the cover-split meat down the middle to lower). Soak wood chips (Mesquite and Hickory) drain, and place in bottom. Not too many since the cooking time comes in at around one hour believe it or not. Put the grid on top of the chips, and the pan under the pork so you're not burning drippings. Put the pork on after the smoker is already hot during initial grill heat up time. To increase smoking flavor, I cut the center of pork down the middle halfway to create more smoke surface area. One burner under the smoker is all you'll need, keeping temp at about 300 degrees. Depending on the size of the pork loin, the meat will rise and push the top of the smoker up, defeating the purpose of container, another reason why I split the loin down the middle. Weigh it down if that happens. One hour is all you'll need for a juicy smoky roast. Hope this helps. The larger smoker is probably more useful, especially if you take the folding racks attached to the cover off. Never used them myself.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth it Read my review on the pulled pork recipe. You can do the same thing, but better on a gas grill with a smoker box and a water pan. Over indirect charcoal, or especially a smoker, no need for this thing. Also, the wood (sawdust) pellets it comes with are a complete joke. I've been doing real smoking for 20 years and grilling forever. Don't waste your money. Charbroil makes some decent products, but this is not one of them.

Hi, I am confused about where the tray goes?. Is it to put the chips in or is it to put the meat on it above the rack?

Wood chips will go into the bottom and the grease tray will then sit on top of that. Place the grate on top of the grease tray and then sit your food on the grate.

Can I use this in my Char Broil vertical gas smoker instead of the combo chip and water pan? This way I can smoke with more chips and water so that I do not need to constantly keep filling them up!
