Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great even cooking but poor design for long-term I love my Tru-infrared grill, it cooks more even than any grill I have ever owned as well as heats to temp quicker than any other i have owned. The problem is that the trough that takes on the direct heat simply can't stand up to regular usage longer than 1.5-2 years. I always properly clean my grill after each use and a significant cleaning typically every other month. The problem is I live in New England and even with a grill cover, the expanding and contracting temperatures and moisture are not conducive to the trough lasting. Again I love the grill but have to figure out whether its worth it to continue buying new troughs every other year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from bad design The trough has no support in the middle. Once the grates (3) are placed on the trough it dips on the middle and after applying heat it bends. This could be an easy fix by adding middle supports. Also the painted on display for the gas controls wears off quickly. We kept ours covered and out of the sun and they wore off after about six months. Cooks great, just those big complaints, which could be easily fixed by the manufacturer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 3 Troughs in two years...... Good idea, poor execution. When I bought my 2 years ago I thought the trough was a good idea; not so much now. The first trough was done in the first 6 months. Charbroil replaced it for at no charge as it was under warranty. The 2nd trough has lasted about a year and is completely warped. Now I have to buy a new trough; hence the 3rd trough. If they could fix the trough I would give this grill 5 stars, until then 2 stars.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great grill. Bad trough. When it's "in shape" this is the best gas grill I've ever owned or used. Throw some dry wood chips in the trough immediately before cooking your steaks and you will swear they were cooked over a wood fire. But the trough is thin metal that deforms quickly. Then the grills don't sit right and you'll curse the poor quality of the trough.

Hello, I just purchased my third Charbroil Grill. This grill has the trough system and I see questions about seasoning but could not find any instructions in the manual on the proper way to season it. Would you please explain the correct process?

    Asked by: Bullshark
To season the trough and cooking grates we recommend applying an even coating of canola oil and then turning the grill to the highest setting for around fifteen minutes. Seasoning will help to keep food from sticking and prolong the lifetime of the parts.
