Rated 2 out of 5 by aguthrie1001 from Love my grill, greatly disappointed in the trough We bought this grill earlier this year, not even 6 months ago. Love the grill, food tastes great coming off of it. It really does a good job. Love smoking food with it. The trough, has not held up at all and I already should buy a new one. There is no support in the middle and it has already began to bow in the middle and sag. Rust is also starting to show. I keep my grill covered and clean it before/after every use. These seems like it should have been addressed by now and is a great disappointment. It is sad that I already need to buy another trough just to get an even cooking surface. The grates do not sit evenly now that the trough is sagging.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Rog9984 from Great even cooking but poor design for long-term I love my Tru-infrared grill, it cooks more even than any grill I have ever owned as well as heats to temp quicker than any other i have owned. The problem is that the trough that takes on the direct heat simply can't stand up to regular usage longer than 1.5-2 years. I always properly clean my grill after each use and a significant cleaning typically every other month. The problem is I live in New England and even with a grill cover, the expanding and contracting temperatures and moisture are not conducive to the trough lasting. Again I love the grill but have to figure out whether its worth it to continue buying new troughs every other year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Baker from bad design The trough has no support in the middle. Once the grates (3) are placed on the trough it dips on the middle and after applying heat it bends. This could be an easy fix by adding middle supports. Also the painted on display for the gas controls wears off quickly. We kept ours covered and out of the sun and they wore off after about six months. Cooks great, just those big complaints, which could be easily fixed by the manufacturer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by jshep from I am like the rest of you and I am very disappointed with the longevity of these "pans". It is time to replace mine again plus my electronic lighter is not working so it is extremely dangerous trying to light my grill. I love way my grill cooks but I shouldn't have to replace these parts every other year. I had a Weber grill prior to purchasing this one and if finally gave out after 10 years. I never had to replace anything on it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by N Steve from Waste of money This trough is a known issue to Char-Broil. After about 1.5 years of regular use, it will develop holes and will act as a grease pan that ignites food. I think they should think about re-designing the trough. I have had my grill for about 3.5 years and have bought two trough's and refuse to buy any more

Rated 2 out of 5 by BillyJackO from Works well for about 1.5 years This trough is a known issue to Char-Broil. After about 1.5 years of regular use, it will develop holes and will act as a grease pan that ignites food. I think they should think about re-designing this with reinforced steal running along the lowest part of the trough.

Rated 2 out of 5 by dpmn1991 from 3 Troughs in two years...... Good idea, poor execution. When I bought my 2 years ago I thought the trough was a good idea; not so much now. The first trough was done in the first 6 months. Charbroil replaced it for at no charge as it was under warranty. The 2nd trough has lasted about a year and is completely warped. Now I have to buy a new trough; hence the 3rd trough. If they could fix the trough I would give this grill 5 stars, until then 2 stars.

Rated 2 out of 5 by GrillManBeast from Great grill. Bad trough. When it's "in shape" this is the best gas grill I've ever owned or used. Throw some dry wood chips in the trough immediately before cooking your steaks and you will swear they were cooked over a wood fire. But the trough is thin metal that deforms quickly. Then the grills don't sit right and you'll curse the poor quality of the trough.

Trough is rusted out after only a year. Also, the supports that the trough rests on along the sides are falling off. What are these side supports called? I have the Gourmet Tru Infrared 3 burner from Home Depot

I bought a 3-burner TRU-Infrared grill from Home Depot last summer (2014) not sure of the model number. I have been very pleased with the grill but within one month the trough had warped badly. Is this a common problem?

I have the Gourmet 3 burner Model 463250511. I notice that the food i bbq with this Tru InfraRed grill lack the charbroiled aroma. I'm hoping a direct flame cooking can improve the taste, can I BBQ without the trough?
We do not recommend removing the trough from this grill. To add smoky flavors we recommend using wood chips. Follow this link to view all of the flavors of wood chips that we currently have available... http://www.charbroil.com/accessories/cook/smoking-and-flavor
