Easy Grilled New York Strip Steak

Some of the best things in life are simple, just like a New York strip steak recipe. Fire up your grill, season your steaks and sear away.

Ingredients

8 ounce New York strip steak, 1 inch thick
 
sea salt
 
black pepper, freshly ground

Directions

Remove steaks from packaging and pat dry.

Lightly season both sides with salt and pepper. Let rest for 30 minutes.

Preheat grill to high heat, between 450°F to 650°F.

Hot Tip: You will be using both direct and indirect heat. If using a larger grill, heat only one side of the grill.

When ready, place the steaks over heat, cooking three minutes per side. You want to create a nice sear.

Turn heat to medium and move steaks away from direct heat.

Hot Tip: This can be to the warming rack or to the other side of the grill.

Check for doneness using an instant-read thermometer. Look for 130°F for a rare doneness.

When steaks reach the desired temperature, remove from grill. Allow the steaks to rest for at least two minutes. The temperature will continue to rise to approximately 140°F for medium rare.
