Ingredients

Serves 4
1/4
cup vegetable oil
1 1/2
pounds ground chuck
1
yellow onion, sliced
6
slices American cheese

salt and pepper to taste
6
burger buns

lettuce, tomatoes and your favorite condiments

Directions

Prep: 15 Minutes, Cook: 15 Minutes
1

Place griddle on top of cool grill grates.

2

Preheat your grill to 500°F, making sure that it is on a level surface.

3

Divide the ground chuck into 6 equal portions.

4

Generously oil your griddle with vegetable oil.

5

Press each ground beef portion down onto your griddle with a spatula to form ¼ inch thick patties.

Hot Tip: Place a square of parchment paper between your spatula and the meat patty to prevent the meat from sticking.
6

Cook the burgers for 3 to 4 minutes, then flip. Add salt and pepper to taste and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes.

7

Place the sliced onions on your griddle stone, turning occasionally to cook evenly.

8

Once the burgers are cooked, place a slice of American cheese on top of each burger. Close the lid for 10 seconds to melt the cheese.

9

Remove the burgers and onions from your griddle.

10

Place the burger buns on your griddle and grill for 15 seconds.

11

Assemble your smash burgers on the toasted buns with grilled onions and your choice of condiments.

12

Serve with a side of fries and some corn on the cob.
