How to Make BBQ Style Smoked Chicken Legs

Smoked chicken legs are great because they cook faster than a whole chicken and are naturally more moist than chicken breasts or wings.  For a quick alternative to the usual chicken dinner, try these BBQ smoked chicken legs.

Ingredient Tips
Chicken legs
Whole legs are a combination of the drumstick and thigh.
Added flavor and moisture
Use whole legs with the skin and bone, as the additional fat will provide flavor and moisture to the meat while it smokes.
BBQ sauce
Prepare a large amount of BBQ sauce to keep the chicken coated while cooking and to serve once the chicken is done.

Preheat the smoker to 225 degrees Fahrenheit. Add wood chips.

Prepare chicken by lightly coating with oil and BBQ dry rub. Place chicken in smoker.

Use a BBQ sauce to baste chicken while cooking and rotate a few times. Smoke for about two hours or until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
