Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just Okay. I was very excited to test out the CharBroil Bistro Infared Grill. Here is my breakdown: Pros: -Fairly straightforward assembly. Took about 45 minutes total. Only hiccup was the ‘supplement’ they included actually complicated the process. It explained step 3 in great detail but then went directly to steps 5 and 6 as they were written in the primary manual. It completely skipped step 4. Someone following the supplement may not catch that. -Small footprint. Easy to wheel inside to a shed or garage. Sides easily collapse for storage. Love the shelves—perfect workstation area. -One knob—that is all. Super easy to turn on and off. Nothing fussy here. -Able to get nice grill marks on burgers and shish kabobs. I cooked up some of those frozen fully cooked beef patties and they came out great. My kids loved them. -Sturdy, sleek and modern looking. It is a nice looking grill. -This is a solution for people that live in an apt. or condo that does not allow gas or propane grills. -Was able to get a good sear on steaks. There also is a partial shelf above the main grilling area to cook veggies along with your protein. Cons: -Very short cord. You will probably need an extension cord. -I could never get the temperature above 400º. Even with the lid shut, empty, for over 1 hour it never went beyond that. Once food was in it it never went beyond 375º. I don’t know how you ever reach 500º. The booklet recommends the highest setting for good sears and for steaks but that was unobtainable for me. -Every time you open the lid to check or flip food you lose 100-150º instantly. It took 50 minutes to cook 4 shish kabobs—20 minutes to heat up and 30 minutes to fully cook the chicken. The veggies were burnt before the chicken was done. -The grill is a bit top heavy. It almost tipped over once when attempting to roll it inside. -I found it a bit difficult to clean, even after following the guide to let it burn on high for 15 minutes after cooking to burn off excess grease. -They recommend to always store the grill in a cool, dry location. Does this mean you cannot leave it out on a balcony or patio? That is quite inconvenient. Overall I am in the middle. It takes twice as long to cook things compared to traditional charcoal grills and completely stalls at 375º once cooking. It also is very easy to just twist a knob, wait for it to heat up, and start cooking. I hope with continued use I will learn how to best navigate this product and have it be my go-to grill. Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I assembled the Electric Bistro myself and I'm not good at this but the instructions were great. But I plugged it in, turned it on, and the temperature only went up to 350 Degrees. I tried it again with the same results. I emailed the company and the service was great. They sent me a new cooking element and heat/temperature dial (but without instructions this time.) I was able to remove the old parts and install the new and when I plugged the unit into the garage outlet, the temp. got up to about 400 degrees. When I used it on the patio it only got up to a 350 degree reading again. I let it cool down, plugged it in to an inside outlet and it got up to 425 degrees but that was it. I don't know if there are variances in my outlets or if the unit just doesn't get up to 525 as it indicates it could with the temperature gauge. 350 degrees isn't really searing out meat like our gas grill does so, so far only 2 stars for the product but 5 stars to the service. I can't recommend it yet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing product This item was sent as a free sample in exchange for review. First of all, let me start by saying the grill looks amazing and my wife and I have used it several time and it worked and surpassed our expectations. It's pure electricity and so you don't have to worry about propane or charisma and the food still had that smokey flavor and taste, which is awesome. Also, my wife was able to assembly it in about 45 minutes. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The pricing of the item is little too high and the knob that controls the temperature is not firm enough, it feels as thou it could be easily turned by a toddler or a slightest brush. Otherwise, this is an amazing product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks good! Have not cooked food yet, but let it heat up for the first time. No extension cord, GFI outlet, put dial on 5 and let run for almost an hour. Never got past 400 degrees. Seemed really hot, but not sure why it says it can go up to 550. Also tried to find a cover for it, tried ordering one from Amazon, but right before I hit place order I noticed it said would not be available for 1 to 2 months. Tried to order one from this site and they said there isn't a cover for it. Took the measurements with the shelves down and went to Ace Hardware. They had one for a Weber charcoal grill that fits perfectly on top, but not sure how it will be for the winter months. Hope they have one in production by fall.

best method to clean porcelain grate on our new electric grill and your instruction book says remove the "controller" after use. the controller is firmly bolted in the frame

Asked by: pete82
We recommend cleaning this grill with a nylon brush and warm soapy water or biodegradable grill cleaner. Seasoning the grates with canola oil will also help to keep food from sticking and prevent rust. If you are unable to remove the controller we recommend storing the unit in a dry, cool environment when not is use. Please give us a call at 1-800-241-7548 for more information.

can I use an extension cord with the bistro electric grill??

Asked by: kaye lyon
For best grill performance use of an extension cord is not recommended. However, if you must use an extension cord use only outdoor type with a 3 prong grounding plug, rated for 15 amperes or more and a 12 or 14 gauge extension cord of 50 ft. or less is acceptable.
