Pub-Style Cheeseburgers with Lager BBQ Sauce, just like you’d order at the pub, are quick and easy to make. And they’re moist and juicy every time.

Ingredients

FOR THE BURGERS

  • 3 pounds ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 slices Monterey Jack cheese
  • 12 bacon slices
  • 6 burger buns

FOR THE LAGER BBQ SAUCE

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup lager beer
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground celery

FOR THE TOPPINGS

  • lettuce
  • tomato
  • red onion

Preheat one side of the grill to 350°F and the other side to 300°F.

Combine ground beef, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt and black pepper in a large bowl. Divide into 6 baseball-size portions. Shape each portion into a ball and flatten into burger patties.

Place bacon slices on cooler side of grill. Close lid and cook for 10 minutes per side.
Hot Tip
For crispier bacon, cook on medium-high for 5-6 minutes per side.

Place burger patties on hotter side of grill. Cook for 5 minutes per side.

Mix ketchup, beer, brown sugar, vinegar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and ground celery in a saucepan on the side burner. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.

Brush burgers with lager BBQ sauce and top with cheese slices. Close lid for 30 seconds to melt cheese. Remove from grill.

Place burgers on bottom bun. Top with lettuce, tomato and onion.
