Beer-Boiled Brats
Beer-Boiled Brats
Play
Beer-boiled Brats have become a staple of American backyard grill-outs but these rich and juicy brats are the star of the show. Infused with the maltiness and subtle bitterness of beer, these flavor-packed faves kick it up a level (or ten) with the addition of sweet grilled red peppers and caramelized onions.
This recipe was created by our partner, Ben McGraw from @firehousegrub. Ben made this dish on our EDGE Electric Grill, but you can make it on your grill.
Ingredients
For the brats
- 1 can beer
- 4 brats
- 4 hotdog or brat buns
- 1 green pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- > mustard, or condiment of choice, for serving
Directions
1.
Preheat grill to 350°F.
2.
Once the grill is ready, place a cast iron skillet directly on the rack.
3.
When the skillet is hot, pour the beer directly into the pan.
4.
Close the lid and broil the brats for 10 to 12 minutes.
5.
Remove the skillet from heat and place the brats directly on the hot grill.
6.
Cook until a nice sear is achieved and the brats reach an internal temperature of 160°F, about minutes per side.
7.
While the brats are cooking, heat a pan over medium heat and sauté the peppers and onions until tender, about 3 to 5 minutes. Set aside.
8.
Place the buns on the grill and cook until toasted, about 1 minute per side.
9.
Remove from heat.
10.
Place the brats in the toasted buns and top with grilled peppers and onions.
11.
Plate the brats and serve with your favorite condiment(s).
