Everyone loves eating a banana split, but this one takes the cake. Grilling fruit brings amplified flavors and rich caramelization to the classic vanilla ice-cream and chocolate-syrup-topped drizzled banana split.

Ingredients

For the banana split

  • 1 banana unripened
  • 2 teaspoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream
  • > chocolate syrup, to taste
  • > salted caramel, to taste
  • > pecans, as garnish (optional)
  • > whipped cream, to taste
  • > Mascherano cherry, as garnish

Directions

Step 1 Of 11
1.
Preheat the grill on high.
2.
Cut the stem off the banana and slice it in half, lengthwise.
3.
Brush the cut side of the bananas with the maple syrup and sprinkle generously with brown sugar.
4.
Add the banana halves to the grill, cut-side up.
5.
Cook until the fruit starts separating from the peel and the sugar melts, about 2-3 minutes.
6.
Remove the bananas from the grill.
7.
Using a fork, carefully separate the banana from the peel to avoid breaking it.
8.
Plate the banana halves crosswise and add a scoop of ice cream.
9.
Drizzle with chocolate syrup and caramel.
10.
Add pecans, if desired, then top with whipped cream and a cherry.
11.
Serve and enjoy.
