Grilled Lemonade
Grilled Lemonade
Put a new twist on a summer classic with this Grilled Lemonade recipe. A refreshing go-to summer beverage, it’s just like the lemonade you’ve always enjoyed but with a hint of smokiness.
Ingredients
For the Lemonade
- 7 lemons
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 cups water
- 4 cups ice
- 2 sprigs mint, optional
Directions
1
Pre-heat grill to high heat.
2
Pour 1/2 cup of sugar onto a plate and shake lightly to spread evenly across plate.
3
Cut 6 of the lemons in half and press lemon halves, flesh side down, into sugar so that it sticks.
4
Place flesh side of lemons on the grill for 5 to 6 minutes until sugar has caramelized. Remove from grill and let rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
5
Juice lemons into a ½ gallon pitcher over a mesh strainer.
Hot Tip
If you don’t have a juicer or fine mesh strainer, hand squeeze lemons over a bowl, pulp side up to keep the seeds out of your lemonade.
6
Slice the last lemon. Add remaining sugar, water, ice and lemon slices. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
7
Muddle mint and stir into lemonade for an added boost of flavor.
