These Smoked Bone-In Chicken legs are coated in a homemade sweet and spicy seasoning. Then they’re smoked in our Deluxe Digital Electric Smoker with a couple of wood chunks for great smoky flavor. Serve these chicken legs with your favorite barbecue sauce for rave reviews at your next outdoor gathering.

Ingredients
For the Chicken
- 3-4 pounds whole chicken legs, bone-in, skin-on
- 2 sticks butter, softened
- 2-3 wood chunks
For the Seasoning
- 1/3 cup chili powder
- 1/3 cup golden brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup salt
- 1/4 cup ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons ground mustard
- 2 tablespoons ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon paprika
Directions

Load the smoker box with your favorite flavor of wood chips . Set smoker temperature to 225°F.

In a medium-size bowl, combine chili powder, brown sugar, salt, pepper, mustard, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika.

Place chicken legs on a sheet pan. Apply melted butter to each leg, both under and on top of the skin.

Once coated with butter, liberally apply seasoning to all sides of chicken legs.

Place chicken legs on the center rack of the smoker.

Smoke the chicken until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F, about 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

Remove chicken legs from smoker and rest for 3 to 5 minutes.

Serve with Maple Bacon Grilled Potato Salad or some Grilled Watermelon Feta Arugula Salad .
